JM Fortier: Making a Living on 1.5 Acres… and Changing the World!

Join us for an evening seminar with world-renowned market gardener Jean-Martin (JM) Fortier. JM will tell the story of his beginnings as a farmer alongside his wife, Maude-Hélène. He will recount the steps and experiences that led them to start Les Jardins de la Grelinette and tell us about the challenges that drove them to grow better, not bigger. In this highly inspirational talk, JM will talk about his philosophy about small-scale farming, introduce the guidelines that have made his business model successful, and explain why he wouldn’t change his lifestyle for the world! He will also present the project he has been working on for the past few years: developing Ferme des Quatre-Temps, an educational project designed to demonstrate what the farm of tomorrow could look like using the latest agroecology and permaculture technology.

This introductory seminar will give you a bird’s eye view of JM’s career up to this point and establish the background for the two-day workshop he will be giving during the weekend. There will be a question and answer period following the presentation, so you can have all of your farming questions answered!

Attendance is included with full workshop registration.
